I would be honored to help you create a personal and unique ceremony and marry you in the location of your dreams. I will hike to the top of a mountain or join you at your favorite venue. Custom and basic non-denominational civil ceremonies in the North, Central and Valley regions of Virginia. We can work from a template or I can write a bespoke ceremony just for you and your day. I am non-discriminatory and inclusive in my practice. I respect and want to work with people of all races, colors, religions, belief systems, genders, gender identities or expressions, sexual orientations, national origins, disabilities and ages.

I have performed over 200 wedding ceremonies and am a trained public speaker. We can add handfasting, unity ceremonies, poems, memorials, religious or family traditions or anything your heart desires. I help your voice and your personality shine through while keeping you comfortable and steady during your vows. I move around during the ceremony so I'm not in all of your pictures, especially at the end for your kiss to seal your promises. Its your day, let me help you find the perfect words for it.

    Wedding Ceremomy

    Gwen did such a great job with our wedding. She took the stress out of the legal portion of the process. Our ceremony was beautiful with all the right amounts of humor. It felt so personalized to us. Our families and friends always felt the same way. Thank you Gwen!!

    Efficient, fun and simple

    We didn't have a clear vision for our ceremony, but Gwen from Steele Away Weddings made the whole process feel easy. She provided options for us—we could either personalize one of her existing scripts or have her write something completely new. We chose to use one of her pre-written scripts and she tailored it perfectly to us, which saved us so much time and stress. On the day of our wedding, the ceremony was exactly what we needed—direct, meaningful, and well-paced. Our guests actually told us it was the best ceremony they'd ever been to, and we have to agree. Gwen's approach was refreshingly simple and personal, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

    Wedding Reception Planning

    Gwen did an amazing job helping us with planning our wedding reception. She met with us weekly to brainstorm and organize everything related to our reception. She came up with some great ideas on how to make a backyard feel like a wedding reception venue. Gwen made a very good first impression with me when trying to find a coordinator and she exceeded all of my expectations. You can tell that she is a professional and very passionate about what she does. She took a lot of of the stress out of the planning process by leaning on her experience and made a huge difference for our reception leading up to it and day of. I highly recommend Gwen to anyone needing a reception coordinator!

    Amazing

    Perfect Officiant for Our Wedding

    My partner found Gwen knowing that I was not interested in anything traditional nor was I keen on a male officiant. She was absolutely perfect for our very small, outdoor wedding.
