How should we cut our wedding cake?

Traditionally, you’d do a ceremonial cutting first, often holding hands on the knife. The caterer then takes the cake away and cuts it into slices to distribute to guests. If you’re slicing it up yourselves, take apart the tiers and cut them into small rectangles. Remember to wrap and freeze the top layer for your anniversary!

How should we transport our wedding cake?

Very carefully! Ideally, your cake will be delivered by your bakery, which should have plenty of experience transporting cakes. You can also purchase special boxes made to protect the tiers.

When should we order our wedding cake?

Set up tastings (the fun part!) around 7 months out. Once you’ve decided, place your order.

“Armana made our wedding cake for our elopement and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. I had so much trouble finding someone willing to make a cake for us because it was a very small elopement, only six people, and it was on a Monday. So many bakeries either never called me back or took weeks to respond. One bakery even quoted me 600 for a six-inch cake. Armana was the complete opposite. She responded, was kind and professional, charged a very reasonable price, and was happy to accommodate the flavor requests I had. Our situation was also a little complicated because our flight to Phoenix arrived the same morning we needed to pick up the cake, and we had to drive it to Sedona. We needed the cake to stay refrigerated for the trip, so I shipped Armana a cooler and ice packs ahead of time. When we arrived, she had everything perfectly packed and ready to go for us. She truly went above and beyond to make this work for us, and I’m so grateful. The cake was beautiful, delicious, and such a special part of our day. I would absolutely recommend Armana to anyone looking for someone talented, reliable, and genuinely helpful.”

We were in Nashville for the weekend for wedding planning, and Amy threw together a tasting box for us with barely any notice. My husband and I went into our tasting literally saying, “I don’t know why people love red velvet cake that much,” and left saying it was the best cake we’ve ever tried — so much so that we chose it as one of our wedding cake flavors. “I sent Crystal this photo and I was a bit nervous at first about how they'd be able to make this happen but honestly I am so happy with how this came out it really was absolutely beautiful. I wasn't able to meet her in person with everything going on but she dropped it off for us on time and my coordinator was great in getting everything set up and presented. A few blueberries fell off during handling but considering how detailed and intricate the cake was I am so beyond thrilled at how this came out. I really don't often ask for perfection but with how this came out it's really right up there being perfect. If I find any better photos I will absolutely update this post with them. The venue itself was an absolute disaster but it was great having all those excessive blueberries everywhere it really made a mess and watching them clean it all up later was just fantastic. I'm not even sure if it's on their regular menu but I asked them to do a lemon cake with a blueberry compote inside (I have no idea what that means but my now wife had me asking for that) and the flavors and taste of the cake were just beyond extraordinary. They also made and brought a smaller mint chocolate cake to accommodate some allergies we had in the family and one bite my breath was smelling good all night!
