About Helen Joy Photography

Helen Joy Photography

As a long time wedding and elopement photographer, I am passionate about my couples enjoying and being present on their wedding day. I take only a handful of wedding clients a year so that I stay fresh and excited. I usually shoot about 30% classic portraiture and 70% lifestyle/photo documentary. I like to tell the story through movement and candid photos, while also taking time to create striking and timeless portraits. I edit all my photos in black and white and color, with a film finish.

I know there are a lot of talented photographers to choose from so I will tell you what sets me and my photos apart. First of all, beautiful images will be made in our time together, guaranteed. Because I feel confident in photographing in all different situations, lighting, and locations, I find that I am able to bring a very relaxed and joyful attitude to my weddings while still stepping in to direct you once in a while.

    Highly Recommend!

    I loved working with Helen Joy, and I highly recommend her for any event. Her wedding photography was lovely, she did a great job getting the ‘formal’ portraits of family and the bridal party. But my favorite pictures were the candid moments I didn’t think to capture, she has an eye for special moments that I didn’t recognize at the time but are now my favorite pictures.

    Wedding photography

    Helen Joy took our wedding pictures and they turned out amazing! We had an outdoor ceremony and she took some incredible photos, both organic shots and poses with the wedding party and family. She was great to work with, professional, and reasonably priced. We received our prints quickly afterward also. The entire experience with Helen Joy was an absolute pleasure!

    Best Photographer!

    We decided to hire Helen Joy for our elopement after she did our maternity shoot because she was so amazing to work with and everything was so easy and natural. On our day of elopement, the weather didn’t go according to plan and we ended up with foggy overcast lighting. I can’t tell you how amazing those photos came out despite the conditions, and she went along with everything on the fly with ease. She was able to capture the magic in the moments, foggy weather and location change included, and those photos capture our tender moments in a frame forever. I will cherish those til the end of our days. She takes shots so discretely and I had no idea she caught some of the beautiful moments that she did. I can’t say enough good things, we highly recommend Helen Joy for any photography you’re looking for!
