Based in Brooklyn and Boston, we are your modern-day, inclusive, progressive bilingual wedding officiants who "spread amor, the Brooklyn way" and feel like long lost friends. We get personal from the beginning to get to know you, your partnership, your values, your hopes, your dreams, and all the good and messy in-betweens in order to create a wedding ceremony that feels true to you. Above and Beyond!!
Words cannot describe how incredible or perfect our wedding was - especially our ceremony. It was truly tailored to us as a couple and encompassed our entire relationship. I am so grateful to Dani for taking the time to speak with us in the months leading up to the wedding and really learning about us as a couple. She incorporated our personal family traditions, and our quirks, into the most perfect ceremony. We had people come up to us after who believed Dani was our best friend or had known us for years!! That's how good she is. Dani never felt like a stranger, she always felt like family. We could not be happier with how our ceremony went. Thank you again!!!

Best wedding decision we made!
Choosing Once Upon A Vow to officiate our wedding was the best wedding decision we made. What really stood out working with Dani was how much time she invested in getting to know us through the process. We had multiple calls where she dove into how my wife and I met each other, our relationship, and our wedding vision. It felt so meaningful on our wedding day given Dani clearly knew us and made it feel like our special day. Most importantly at the wedding, she made everyone feel at ease and had clear command of the ceremony and logistics. Thank you again for being a part of our special day!

Wonderful Central Park Wedding
Dani from Once Upon A Vow was absolutely fantastic to work with on our wedding ceremony. We were having an elopement wedding from the UK to New York, Central Park so Dani’s communication was very important and she was excellent with sending us helpful and proactive emails in advance and throughout the process. We also had a helpful and fun video call to talk through our love story and relationship. Dani was really lovely, friendly, kind, inclusive, upbeat and fun! We felt so comfortable talking to her and knew she was going to be just perfect for officiating our special day. Our ceremony was at the peak of a heat wave in the middle of Central Park and Dani was so professional and read such a thoughtful, personal monologue about what is important to us and special about each other. It was beautiful! We had a lot of options and choices for the ceremony which made it feel really personal to us. We can’t thank Dani enough for such a wonderful start to our married life!

HELL YES WE DO! We are passport ready and will travel any and everywhere for love. The furthest we’ve traveled out west has been to Portland, Oregon and the furthest we’ve traveled internationally has been to Würzburg, Germany.

Yes, we are primarily registered in NYC and Boston. Our ordination also allows us to legally officiate ceremonies in states like New Jersey that don’t require state registration. We have also applied for one-time registration in nearby states like New Hampshire and will gain registration for any and every state where we officiate ceremonies.

These days you can complete your marriage application online and schedule a virtual or in-person appointment through Project Cupid. If you’re traveling to NYC, you’ll need to be in New York for both virtual and in-person appointments. Check out the City Clerk website for more info. https://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/content/

Definitely! Our fave part of wedding ceremonies are your VOWS and we will absolutely hold space for this sentimental moment in your ceremony. We are 100% down to support you in writing and editing your vows. We'll guide you every step of the way until your vows feel every bit like you.

Of course you can and there are many high-touch and low-touch ways to include your loved ones depending on their comfort level and your ceremony vision. From collective vows and readings to ring warmings and community sing-a-longs, we can discuss what fits best for your ceremony vision!

Abso-frickin-lutely! If you’re planning an elopement ceremony with fewer than 20 guests, you do not technically need a permit to get married in an NYC park. However, we recommend you obtain one if you’d like to get married in a popular location. If you plan on having more than 20 guests, you must file for a special event permit, which requires at least 30 days for processing and a $25 non-refundable processing fee.

Yes, we love vow renewals! It’s so meaningful to us when couples choose to reaffirm their love and commitment to one another. ALL THE AWWS!! Our rates remain the same as our labor of love is centered on preparing and writing your ceremony.

What may seem like a simple 20-minute ceremony includes hours of getting to know you, taking notes, thoughtfully writing and editing your ceremony, traveling to your chosen ceremony space, and communicating with vendors and/or loved ones. Not to mention accurately completing the legal bits. However, because we understand that many are struggling financially, please check out our Sliding Scale for Wedding Officiant Services blog post.

Yes, we most definitely do. We typically split the total into 2-4 payments depending on the chosen ceremony experience and your financial needs. Feel free to let us know if you’d like to split the payments further.
