What do you wear?

Unless something else is requested, I come to set up in all black and change into a nice black suit for the wedding/event itself. Nice comfortable dress shoes, black slacks, a black dress shirt, and a matching suit.

Do you learn new songs?

Absolutely. I'll customize my set list for every couple. If there is something specific that they vibe with that I don't have, I make sure to grab it from a DJ record pool where the quality will be good. I'll spend anywhere between 20-40 hours the week of your wedding prepping, and that includes creating a set list and working that new song into my set list so it can be quickly mixed in and out and we're hearing the best bits of each song.

What makes you different from other musicians?

I've been in this business for over 15 years. I previously owned a company that ran 3-4 events throughout the Metroplex every weekend. We were a full in house service company that did Catering, Decorating, Flowers, Photography, DJ, Photo Booth, Green Screens, etc... I decided to go back to DJing full time because music and entertainment is my passion. I wanted to just focus on the part of weddings that I feel is the most important, and that's controlling the atmosphere in the room. What makes me different is that I've gone through it all and understand everyone's roll to create a truly personal experience for my couples.

Do you take music requests?

I have a discussion with my couples first about what they want. If my couples are ok with it, if I have it, and I can work it in to the set where we don't ruin the vibe, yes. If it's on a DO NOT PLAY list, then I kindly tell them I'll play it if I have it, but I'll never throw anyone under the bus. The last thing a bride wants is for her cousin to come up to her and beg to allow the Cupid Shuffle and make the situation awkward.

Do you provide music for wedding ceremonies or cocktail receptions?

Yes to both. I talk to my couples about the vibe they're wanting to create. Weddings is all about different atmospheres at different times. Once I have a good idea of what we're going for, I have music suggestions and playlists for ceremony's and cocktails, and I work with my couple to make sure their personality shows throughout what I'm playing. I want every guest to walk out of that wedding saying "That vibe was 100% them!"

Are you fully insured?

Yes. And I proactively have a discussion with your venue to make sure I get them added as a preferred vendor. My insurance has never had a claim filed against it, and hopefully never will, but it protects the venue, my clients, and me from any issued that could possibly ever happen - such as someone running into my speakers and hurting themselves.

What is your style?

Like every DJ I have things I love to mix. Hip Hop and EDM for dancing, maybe throw in some 90s punk. But truly, I love everything and it just depends on my mood. I grew up extremely southern baptist where anything other than christian music was frowned upon... When I went to college I just submerged myself in absolutely everything from classic rock, to country, edm, hip hop, punk, raggaeton, you name it. What I LOVE about weddings is that every set list is different. DJing to me is the art of expressing yourself through music, but I get to express my couple's style and create a different atmosphere every night.

How early do you come to set up?

I give myself plenty of time to set up, change, and go over my notes. I want to be fully set before any of your guests start arriving. Depending on what enhancements we're providing I can be set up anywhere from 30 mins or an hour and that typically includes load in. I always do a site visit for a venue I'm not familiar with to make sure I've built that relationship with the venue, and I know everything I need to know without asking anyone any questions day of.

Do you provide other services, such as lighting or photo booths?

I do. I have a list of enhancements that I provide and I'm always adding to that. I customize my DJ packages according to what you're wanting for your wedding. Let's talk about what your ideal wedding is, and what I can provide.

Question 10

What is your travel and break down fee?

Accepted Answer

I don't have an extra fee for anything other than travel expenses for destination weddings. My pricing is my pricing.

Question 11

What are your sales taxes?

Accepted Answer

There is no sales tax for DJing. DJing is a service and thus not a taxable item.
