Q: What do you wear?

To weddings I wear a black or dark blue button-up shirt and dark slacks.

Q: What is your travel and break down fee?

If an event is further than one hour's drive from North Austin I will ask for a $50 or $100 travel fee depending on the distance. I do not charge for set-up and break down. Clients only pay for the duration of the event from when music (or sound) first begins to the end of the event.

Q: Do you take music requests?

My clients have the opportunity to be as hands-on or hands-off with music selections at their events as they choose. I send a music request checklist to every client who books me. Clients can give me permission to accept requests from their guests (or not) and can complete a "do-not-play" list to avoid hearing songs or genres they don't like.

Q: Do you provide music for wedding ceremonies or cocktail receptions?

Yes, I can run sound and microphones for your wedding ceremony and play music for cocktail hour.

Q: Are you fully insured?

Yes, I have a $2 million general liability insurance policy.

Q: Do you provide other services, such as lighting or photo booths?

I can always provide dance floor lighting free of charge. I provide uplighting for an additional fee. I do not provide a photo booth service.

Q: How early do you come to set up?

I arrive at a venue at least two hours before I have to run any sound or play any music. So, if your guests will be arriving at 3:00pm for a wedding ceremony at 3:30pm, I will arrive at the venue by (at latest) 1:00pm to begin setting up to play pre-ceremony music when your guests arrive at 3:00pm.

Q: What's the vinyl bar?

For an additional fee I will bring two curated bins of vinyl records (and a case of 45's) from my private collection to your event and invite guests to dig through them, pick out records, and make requests. Depending on the styles of music you are into I can pack the bins with rock, pop, R&B, soul, funk, 80's, and more.

Q: How much do you charge as a deposit and when is my full balance due?

In order to book me, in addition to returning your completed and signed contract, you will have to pay a 25-30% deposit/retainer. Your remaining balance will be due the day before your event.

I'm an event DJ serving Central Texas with 20 years of experience rocking parties. I love taking requests and work long hours to custom tailor music selections to the mood of my clients' events. I bring all of my own gear so, if you give me a power outlet, I can start a dance party. I also MC receptions and can run sound and microphones for ceremonies and presentations.

My (1) taste, (2) mixing abilities, (3) vast vinyl record collection, and (4) experience mixing vinyl are the things that separate me from other local professionals. If you love vinyl records, ask about my "Vinyl Record Bar," a service that no other local DJ or event company provides.

Description

My pricing is straightforward: based on the amount of time you need me to run amplified sound. Each additional hour above four is $200/hr. If I have a piece of gear that you need or will make your event better, I'm going to bring it. The only things I charge extra for are karaoke, uplighting ($200), the vinyl record bar ($350), and travel if you're more than an hour's drive from Austin ($50/hr). I can accommodate events with up to 300 guests.

Best Vinyl DJ!!
We hired DJ Phil for our wedding and it was the best decision ever! He did so great curating the music based off our decisions. The vinyl bar was also a big hit and all the guests are still raving about him! :) 10/10

Amazing DJ
Phillip did an amazing job with making the playlist to what we wanted. His excel sheet made it easy to show what we were looking for a timeline of events for our reception. As for the music, it was perfect and it was what we were looking for. He even played music for us early when he didn’t have too. Definitely would recommend again.

Professional, Prepared, and an Amazing DJ!
We hired DJ Phil for our wedding and he absolutely knocked it out of the park! From the very beginning, Phil was incredibly professional — he met with us multiple times leading up to the big day to go over every detail, and that level of preparation really showed. We always felt like we were in great hands. The highlight of the night was the record bar, which our guests absolutely loved. Phil had a great read on the crowd all evening and kept the energy exactly where it needed to be. So many of our guests came up to us to rave about the music. He truly helped make our wedding night unforgettable!

DJ Phil Does It is the best wedding DJ we've seen
DJ Phil was incredible! He worked with us to find our exact audio needs and music preferences for each event during the wedding. He uses actual turntables and even provides a collection of vinyls to use for requests if you choose to add that service. His playlist perfectly fit our requests and captured the vibe that we were going for. We had a small wedding with a mixed-age guest list, so we weren't sure what to anticipate for the reception energy, and relied on Phil's expertise to read the room and play what he thought was best. He absolutely NAILED it! He kept everyone dancing (even the older crowd), and his mixes were creative and had everyone tuned in to what banger he was going to play next. Even our DJ friends at the wedding were impressed with him. He is multiple tiers better than the average wedding DJ you'll find, and we'll be recommending him to all of our friends and anyone who comes across this review. DJ Phil certainly does it!

Brought the wedding day vibes
DJ Phil Does It was absolutely fantastic to work with for our wedding. From the very first conversation, Phil was prompt, friendly, and professional in his communication. On the day of the wedding, his work exceeded our expectations - the transitions between songs were seamless, and he had such a cool, laidback personality that added to the vibe of the reception. One of our favorite parts was the immense amount of vinyl records for our guests to pick from and request songs - it was such a unique and fun touch that our guests raved about. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ. Highly recommend DJ Phil Does It for any couple looking for an experienced, talented DJ to make their wedding day special.
