How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“It all started in October 2022 when Michael and I bought a house in the area. We were driving around to explore and stubbled upon Ridgecrest. I had always wanted to get married on the side of a cliff. I said wouldn't it be so cool to get married here? Right in our town? Fast forward to seeing an ad for Stroudsmoor wedding expo. I wasn't even engaged and I booked us two tickets. It was just one day before the expo, when Michael proposed. I only had one venue in mind. Ridgecrest. When I would tell people where I was getting married at, I will never forget what everyone said; "it is so pretty there and the staff take such great care of you". And oh my gosh, YES do they ever take care of you! I can have panic attacks but the staff kept me focused. I was well care for with patience and love. I learned new techniques to distract me from anxiety that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Belkis, Corinne, Kaylie, Becca, Corinne's sister and Carolyn. You ladies kept me together. At the end of wedding night, I have received nothing but positive compliments of how stunning my wedding was. It was the best wedding some guests had attended. The most beautiful. The happiest. Room was filled with love and everyone could feel it. Guests told me the food was great. So much food. So many IPA choices. Appetizers were great. Band was awesome. Venue stunning. Views of the valley gorgeous. Live painter was amazing. Hair and make-up made my girls into bombshells. A luxury deluxe wedding. I went all out for this wedding. Deciding to book it for March and hoping for snow. And sure enough, during my vows I got my a small flurry of snow. This place is magic. I would do it again and again. Wedding planning is stressful but this place made it easy with an all in one package. Hair and make up, catering, floral and decor, bakery, and lodging ALL on site!! Then just use their wedding expo to research and pick a photographer, music, transportation and officiant. And you have all the major stuff already done! The next day after my wedding I did not have a feeling of let down. I was on cloud 9. And I told Michael, this place can just take my money again and again.”

“My husband and I were looking for a high value, reasonably-priced venue in the Brookly area and we found it in DEITY. We were immediately impressed by DEITY wedding packages. We were able to find a package that best fit our vision and budget. It’s really hard to imagine that we could have gotten a better deal for our money anywhere else, especially when you consider that the tax is already baked in upfront without any hidden surprises. DEITY is amazing, we couldn’t have picked a better venue for our small and intimate wedding. The planning process was incredibly simple. With all the moving parts weddings encompass, the staff were very flexible and accommodating to what we wanted to make our day as special as it was. The setting for the ceremony and reception felt like we were in another world. Again, the planning for how we wanted our items set up were seamless with the staff's help. They made sure all the details we wanted were accommodated for. Lastly, but certainly very important and helpful was the cleanup for the end of the night. Staff were on point with making sure we had all our belongings and items needed prior to departing the venue. We had no worries with making sure everything was cleaned up and accounted for. “The Olio is a beautiful space that is perfect for the couple that wants to customize their wedding and/or reception space. My husband and I were able to have an on-site wedding and reception with approximately 190 guests. The space never felt too cramped. Our vendors were accommodated well. We were able to bring in the caterers that reflected our heritage. Because the Olio is a blank slate, we were able to create a decor plan that was complimented by Olio's uplights. For our ceremony, we had gold lights. For our ceremony, we had blue and purple uplights that worked perfectly with our decor and signified the change between the ceremony and reception. Sarah is an amazing owner. She responds quickly and gives feedback that helps optimize the space. We originally wanted our DJ, bar, and lounge area in different parts of the space. Sarah made suggestions, which she made clear that we understood that they were not mandatory. We took her suggestions and it made the space work perfectly. Sarah has an eye for detail, but also a skill for working with people. Her staff were equally as wonderful. Becca, Tiesha, and Ivy made our rehearsal and wedding day run smoothly. We toured Walden in June 2024 and we couldn't help but compare every other venue we looked at to Walden because Walden was - simply put - the BEST! Even before we officially signed with Walden, we felt very taken care of by Maria who gave us our tour and she assured us we'd feel that way with our planners and day-of coordinators, which she was spot on about! We were super impressed by the physical space (the tall ceilings! brick walls! gorgeous ceremony and getting ready space!) and by the bartender-to-guest ratio (highly recommend asking about this at venues if you have a lively guest list like we did!), but our Walden planners are what made our day SO special and truly stress-free. Krystle and Katie Rose (our wedding planners) were thoughtful, professional, encouraging, creative and fun throughout the entire process. I remember them saying "we like to have our couples in a bubble on the day of" meaning they would be around to coordinate everything from steaming dresses, to making sure the bus knew where to park, to ensuring all of us ate, and more! Krystle and Katie Rose provided helpful deadlines, documents (like a "details" check list) and vendor recommendations to us throughout the planning process, and I appreciated their honesty when it came to vendors we were inquiring about. They truly are experts in their craft and were such a joy to work with. I don't think I ever waited more than 24 hours for a response from either of them. Day of, there were several coordinators at all times, so we felt very taken care of. The food and drinks were out of this world. We got so many compliments from guests about the appetizers, the flow of dinner, and the kind bartenders. Another perk of Walden is that it hosts an incredible, unique tasting for couples. Walden hosts several couples and their guests at the same time, so you can see what the space looks like when it's full, you can see how accommodating the catering and bar staff are, and you can sample the delicious food and drinks. The location can't be beat, especially for guests staying downtown and if you want to take photos in the city with your wedding party. We know we'll be back at Walden for future weddings since so many of our friends were SO impressed by the venue and staff. Thanks, Walden!!!”

“We had our wedding reception at the Villa this September and it was everything we dreamed of and more! Biggest thanks to Ellen Jones (our event producer) and all the employees at this venue. The Villa is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are amazingly kept and beautiful! Our reception was in the tent and it provided the indoor and outdoor feel we were looking for! “My partner and I’s venue search ended the second we ascended in the historical elevator to the penthouse of the James Oviatt Building. The Oviatt venue is a multifaceted piece of beautiful Art Deco history that lends itself well to whatever event you are trying to throw. In our case, they hosted our wedding. We will forever be grateful for their immense care and kindness leading up to, on, and after the big day. We met the President Gabe first, who had his own wedding at this venue before he managed it. He made us feel right at home and answered every question we could muster. Our one hour showing turned into a two and a half hour conversation where his care and passion for the venue and his clients became very clear. We felt a connection right away. He shared a wealth of great advise and reassurances and gave us an impeccable pool of preferred vendors. We were sold in minutes. Every event is different, but my partner and I did not feel the space needed any help to become beautiful. The architectural art of the space is breathtaking and unique from the valet area outside of the Cicada Club all the way to the terrace. We saved a fortune on a florist. Who needs one when everything is already so classy? Speaking of class, the Director of Events Lindsey took point on execution and was our resource during the planning process. I as an individual am not the most communicative. I needed someone with that attention to detail and she delivered. After giving her all the venue required specifications (seating chart, insurances, etc,) two conversations was all it took for her to equip the venue with everything it needed and make it gorgeous. It seemed effortless for her. Not a spec of dust or dirt to be seen and the staff was respectful, efficient, and welcoming. I had a panic attack because I forgot to ask them for valet and she was able to get her people on it without issue the same week as the wedding. (Don’t be like me, but that is a perfect example of how on top of it they are.) They had EVERYTHING we could have wanted for a downtown metropolitan wedding and then some. If they didn’t have it? They knew exactly where to refer you. One of my personal favorite features was their completely customizable LED lighting strips on the hedges that lined either side of the rooftop. We had them a bright warm light for dinner and then a cycle of rainbow colors for dancing. They are inclusive and welcoming to any and all who come to visit. We felt valued, respected, and well cared for. It truly was the best day of our lives and we owe it all to The Oviatt. I implore to to reach out to them. I can say with certainty that you won’t be disappointed and whatever it is you are planning will become a memorable experience unlike any other.”

“We got married at the Red Barn in June 2025 and can't say enough good things about the wedding and the Red Barn staff. At every interaction, they went above and beyond for us. The venue is absolutely stunning and I loved that there were so many options for taking photos. We also stayed at the Stage House Inn and did our rehearsal lunch there, which made the whole experience easy and seamless for ourselves and guests. One thing future bride/grooms will understand is how overwhelming starting wedding planning can be, and how hard it is to figure out pricing for all your vendors. I've heard horror stories from girlfriends on hidden fees and surprise costs. The Red Barn was so transparent on costs from the start, which was a huge differentiator for me. We worked with Alex and Colleen and they were both fantastic- so organized and communicative. As someone who didn't have a dedicated planner, it was invaluable to have Colleen available to help plan our day. Colleen was on top of my 10,000 emailed questions and put me at ease in the days leading up to the wedding. Everything went so well, our guests had a great time and we owe that to the Red Barn and the staff! Big shout out to Moe as well who made sure the groom and I were well fed and always had a cocktail in hand (and a smile on our faces!). Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.

There was never a time that I felt stressed during our wedding planning because our coordinator at Nazareth helped us through each step!
