My foundation in floral design began on a small flower farm in Vermont over 10 years ago, where I immersed myself in the full lifecycle of the work—planting, harvesting, and arranging blooms directly from the field. That experience shaped my style: deeply seasonal, textural, and guided by an intuitive understanding of form and color. My aesthetic is loose and intentional, layered with luxurious texture and touched by a sense of intentional wildness. A steward of sustainable design, I avoid floral foam and plastics, and aim to use local materials wherever I can to have the lightest footprint on our planet possible.

Hi! I’m Iris, the mind, body, and soul behind Milkweed! As a lot of dad’s like to joke, my name must be a birthright into floristry. In all honesty, it really has been a constant thread throughout my life. From picking flowers in my mom’s garden, to working in a flower shop in Boston right after college, then tackling florals for my own wedding in 2021, and eventually freelancing for event florists around Maine - I fell head over heels for wedding florals!

I started my business in 2018, after I finished floral design classes from Cass School of Floral in Watertown, MA.
