About this venue

Tar Creek Ranch offers a timeless and elegant wedding experience on 100 acres of Central Coast countryside. The rustic beauty of the property includes a restored 1920s barn, picturesque gardens, and five unique event spaces. Rental includes access to all spaces from the day before your wedding until the day after, allowing you to host all your wedding events onsite.

The Garden

The Garden welcomes your guests with a beautifully landscaped path leading up to a charming gathering area with a manicured lawn.

This versatile space is ideal for ceremonies, al fresco dining, cocktail hour, and gathering with loved ones around one of two fire pits in the evening. The Garden includes a stage perfect for music or ceremonies, seven barrel-topped cocktail tables in the cocktail area, and an additional bar conveniently located at the barn’s side window.

The Barn

The heart of Tar Creek Ranch

This beautifully restored 3600 sq ft barn from the late 1920s boasts a story as unique as its architecture. When a lumber shipwrecked off the coast of Oceano, local farmers and ranchers salvaged the wood to build their barns. Our barn features the ship’s ribs, creating a cathedral-style ceiling adorned with stunning chandeliers. It’s the perfect setting for indoor ceremonies, intimate reception dinners, and after-dinner dancing.

The Magnolia Pavilion offers 3300 sq ft of bright, open-air setting surrounded by sudan grasses and wildflowers—perfect for cocktail hours, receptions, or intimate gatherings. With its spacious layout, breezy ambiance, and charming bistro lighting, this pavilion strikes a beautiful balance of rustic elegance and modern comfort. It’s a favorite spot for couples looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the ranch in an inviting, relaxed atmosphere.

    We LOVED the ranch, it was perfect!

    Matthew and Holly were absolutely wonderful to work with—so professional, quick to respond, and genuinely kind. We live out of town and they were always there to address any questions or concerns, making our planning process a breeze. The venue itself is stunning, with a gorgeous outdoor ceremony site, a beautiful tent for dinner, and a barn for the reception—truly everything in one place! The Ranch House was perfect for my entire bridal party to stay onsite, and it was spacious enough for all of us to get ready together. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue’s intimate feel and its close proximity to the charming Arroyo Grande Village. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience or better people to work with, and we highly recommend Tar Creek Ranch for an unforgettable wedding day!

    Our Dream Venue!

    We are still in awe of the incredible experience we had at Tar Creek Ranch for our wedding! If you're dreaming of a rustic, barn-style wedding with elegance and charm, this is the place. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The venue itself is a beautiful blend of rustic and romantic. The barn exudes character with its wooden beams, open space, and warm, inviting atmosphere. We loved how the space felt both intimate and expansive—perfect for creating the cozy, laid-back vibe we envisioned, while still providing room for all of our guests to dance the night away. The outdoor pavilion was also a wonderful space for our first dance and outdoor dining. The pavilion features a large tent with a clear top and sides, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful sunset while savoring their meal. In addition, the ranch house was a lovely space for my bridal party to stay and get ready for the day. The house offers amazing natural light and plenty of space for all of your guests. The team at Tar Creek Ranch made the entire planning process seamless. From the moment we toured the venue to the last dance of the night, the staff was incredibly supportive, professional, and detail-oriented. They helped us bring our vision to life, whether it was coordinating the timeline, offering decor ideas, or ensuring everything went off without a hitch. On the wedding day, they handled everything with ease and grace, allowing us to focus on enjoying the moment. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how stunning the venue was!
