About Philip

A Brit from just south of London in England, I have lived in Texas since 2006, when I moved to marry my best friend. Before moving to America, I was a newspaper photographer covering local stories and sports, managed a portrait studio, and traveled the world. A lifelong photographer, I've spent an unhealthy amount of time in darkrooms developing rolls of film and learning from amazing mentors.

I love the craft of photography. I’m a former news photographer and a San Antonio-based wedding photographer capturing weddings from a fly-on-the-wall perspective. You’ll not notice me. My photos are candid and artistic with a splash of color and monochrome.

    Fantastic photographer

    Choosing Philip Thomas as our wedding photographer was perhaps the easiest decision of our entire wedding planning process. We were immediately drawn to his candid, photojournalistic style, and he delivered. Philip took time to get to know us and helped us feel at ease during the entire process. We were looking for photographs that would remind us what our special day was like, and Philip did just that. As always, there are parts of our wedding that we would change in hindsight, but Philip isn't one of them. We cannot recommend him enough.

    Philip was an absolute joy to work with. From our first consultation, his energy and genuine excitement made us feel so comfortable, he's incredibly easygoing, super fun, and has a real talent for putting everyone at ease, even on a big day. The photos turned out phenomenal, timeless, romantic, and full of emotion. He captured every heartfelt moment, from quiet glances to joyful group shots, in a way that feels authentic and cinematic. We’re still in awe of how beautifully he told our story through his lens. If you want a photographer who’s as fun as he is talented, and documentary style of photos, Philip is the one. 100000/10 Highly recommend!!!

    We 3 Philip!

    If you have viewed Philip’s portfolio, you don’t need our review to tell you how beautiful his photography is! Our photos are absolutely stunning. They perfectly tell the story of our wedding day, and bring us right back to the moments they captured. Philip’s eye for interesting compositions still amazes us when we look at our pictures (which we do often). What may not be immediately evident by viewing a website though, is just how lovely working with Philip is. We were so impressed by his ability to find the perfect balance between being there to catch every single moment yet never feeling intrusive. He brought such a calming, friendly, kind demeanor to our wedding day and we could tell he truly cares about the comfort of his subjects. Philip is an artist, and you will no doubt be blown away by how he captures your wedding day.

    We knew going into our search we wanted a candid/natural style of photos. Philip exceeded our expectations. The final images were gorgeous! I still can’t stop looking through them. Our family and friends are blown away, each image is stunning. The whole process start to finish was effortless. Philip had such a good energy from day 1 and we loved working with him. His second shooter was also phenomenal. Book him now! You won’t regret it. We’re so thankful to have these beautiful images to look back on.

    We found our dream photographer

    Philip Thomas was the first and best choice for our dream wedding.  A documentary style photographer, he along with is teammate Adam Swift, were not only punctual and professional but through their lenses made everyone feel like the star of the show.  The end results speak for themselves. Editorial style shooting that put the effort in effortless. Their keen eyes watched every little scene carefully, and struck when the timing was perfect. Family, friends, and coworkers rushed with their exaltations. “Wow it’s like looking at a fashion magazine.” exclaimed one friend. “I’m jealous haha! It makes me want to get married now.” said a coworker.  As the former bride, I couldn’t be happier. I have the joy and honor of getting to look back fondly on my wedding day through these photographs.
