Hi! My name is Mae, and I live in Brooklyn with my girlfriend, our two dogs Apollo and Bia, her cat Gigi and my lizard, Basil! I’ve always been passionate about capturing moments as authentically and magically as possible, and as i’ve settled more into this career path, I love that i’ve landed in a place where I have the privilege to capture and preserve people’s love stories. Weddings and elopements are so distinctly and uniquely human, and it’s truly the biggest honor to be trusted to document them.

I’m a massive film lover- and always have been. I was gifted my first camera when I was four- a little polaroid I-zone that printed band-aid-style photos in the tiniest 1 inch by 1 inch frames, and I carried it everywhere with me. As i’ve grown, my equipment choices have definitely changed, but my love for film and vintage means of documentation has not. All of my package offerings live in the hybrid world: digital and 35mm. No gallery is truly complete without some film, I think. I’m also a huge fan of Super 8 video, and am proud to now include it as an a la carte offering to both elopement and wedding packages.

Fantastic Photography for City Hall!
Having had other plans fall through for our city hall ceremony, we reached out to Mae on fairly short notice, having liked what we’d seen of her portfolio. She was nothing short of exceptional! Our introductory call set things off in the perfect way, with Mae being incredibly receptive to our ideas while also making thoughtful suggestions from her experience and talent. Beyond just photography, her insights on the logistics around a city hall ceremony were invaluable to us in preparing for the big day. And all throughout, her kind and patient personality shone as well. On the day, Mae not only did an absolutely amazing job with our photos, capturing everything we were looking for and more, but also made us feel totally comfortable through the entire process despite all of the chaos in and around city hall. And in terms of the finished product, her editing was sublime; we could not be happier with how the photos turned out! Overall, Mae is simply fantastic, and we would highly recommend her for your next photoshoot!

In-the-moment Photography
Mae and her team captured us so gracefully on our special day!!! As a queer couple, we had such a fun time getting to know Mae and her team, and felt so comfortable being captured by them. We loved having them there to memorialize us not only on camera but in polaroid and super8 as well. Mae is so skilled at capturing their client in the moment to create beautiful and unique photographs that will be cherished forever. We are still waiting on our full gallery, but are so satisfied on what we’ve received already!!!

The perfect photographer for our perfect day.
Mae Krell Photo was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding. From the very beginning, Mae was incredibly thorough and took the time to get to know us and our vision for the day. Best photographer!!
Mae was an absolute pleasure to work with. I knew I liked her from the very first call. She was thorough and asked good questions to make sure she could capture what we wanted. I love the vintage-inspired look of the photos and video. She communicated when she said she would and I always received a quick response to any questions or messages I had. On the wedding day, I couldn’t imagine anyone who would make it as special as Mae did. She was more than a photographer- she helped me put on myself shoes, hyped up all the little details I stressed months over, and was just such a joy. I cannot recommend Mae enough. I loved all the photos and the video made me cry. Mae is the type of person you want to be friends with after everything is done. Trust me, book Mae!!

I always recommend reaching out as soon as you know your date! Typically, couples book me anywhere from 6 months to a year or more before their wedding date, but it is never too early- or too late to check my availability. I encourage you to reach out regardless of the timeframe you're working with!

I do! However, I only offer Super 8 video. If you're interested in a more traditional wedding video, I can definitely recommend some wonderful videographers for you to connect with!

All of the photos I deliver to you will absolutely be edited to fit my vintage style. I'm always happy to take specific editing requests as well, but I do not do any heavy body retouching. You are authentic and beautiful and I want to celebrate that! I will of course edit any blemishes or remove people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time- but the majority of my editing is color corrections and other minor adjustments.

This depends on what package you book/how much time we'll be spending together! You can generally expect around 60-80 images per hour of photographing. Keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, etc.

My turnaround time varies whether you have booked an engagement shoot, elopement, or larger wedding. Each package comes with a 1-2 week turnaround, guaranteed. Larger weddings will almost always take the full 2 weeks, so you can expect that! For larger weddings, you will also receive a sneak peek album to share with friends and family 3-5 days after your date!

Yes! My packages are just standard guides to show you what can be captured within each time frame. However, I believe all weddings and elopements are special and deserve to be customized to how you want that day to feel! I'm always more than happy to build a bespoke package based on your vision.

All my 100+ guest count wedding packages have a 2nd shooter/assistant included! I will also occasionally bring another assistant as well, but that will not cost you extra. For more intimate weddings, I offer the option to include a second photographer if you'd like as well, but that's completely up to you!

I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
