Lûmiere de Soi
A little about us, Lumière de Soi is a woman owned, joy focused, candid moment capturing, cat loving, nature obsessed photography studio serving Charlottesville and Central Virginia. Our studio is proud to be an inclusive space, photographing all bodies and all forms of love. We offer coverage for weddings and elopements as well as portrait services.
As a two person team, we are able to capture moments you may miss. We include an engagement session with all wedding collections; we believe that building a relationship with our couples leads to beautiful images that will be cherished for years to come.

An absolute delight!!
Amanda and Gailan were amazing! They were an absolute delight to work with - so thoughtful, kind, personable, accomodating, and professional. We had been looking for a photographer to help capture our courthouse wedding day, and we came across them after searching for days. We were looking for someone to just capture our simple courthouse day and aiming for timeless yet simple for the photos we wanted - and they captured just that exactly that for us. We got our photos back very quickly too, which was a huge plus. Amanda and Gailan were so accommodating throughout the process with our schedule and location preferences; they were reasonable and affordable with their pricing; they really listened to our needs and captured our exact photography style preference (minimal, classic, timeless look), and were overall so supportive through the planning process. They were so helpful throughout the entire process from start to finish, and we're able to do all the planning through an initial zoom/virtual call. The whole experience went smoothly and the day or they were so personable which made our day really fun and meaningful. Communication with them was top notch. We would highly recommend them for any courthouse, elopement, or wedding type of photography services!

Absolutely amazing
We met Gailan and Amanda at a bridal show and after seeing their photos at the bridal show I was immediately set on using them. We started talking to them shortly after about details and their communication was great. They responded quickly, they are super friendly, and each time we talked we had lots of laughs. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. The photos they captured are truly stunning. I have looked at them over and over since getting them back and know I will continue to do so forever. We are so grateful to have had such wonderful people photograph our special day and be a part of the process. I would and will recommend them to anyone and everyone who is looking for a photographer!

Fantastic Wedding Photographers
My wife and I got married in 2024 and hired Amanda and Gailan to shoot our small wedding on very short notice. They were absolutely fantastic, taking the time to understand exactly what we wanted, thoughtfully lining up with wedding picture within the structure and timeline of the event itself, and quickly getting us previews and finished shots. The pictures were extremely well shot and edited, and their direction for informal portraits put my wife and I at ease (neither of us are wild about being the center of attention) in a way that comes through in the final results. Zero complaints or issues, would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Our Dream Team—Beyond Grateful!
Where do I even begin? Hiring Amanda and Gailan was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the moment they arrived, they brought such a calming, joyful energy—like they'd known us forever. They weren’t just photographers; they were artists, friends, and a calming presence . They captured everything perfectly—the big moments, of course, but also those fleeting, emotional in-betweens that you don’t even realize are happening until you see the photos and think, “Wow, that was us.” Every photo feels alive, full of feeling and movement and magic. I’ve gone through our gallery a hundred times, and I still get teary-eyed. That’s how incredible their work is. They were organized, kind, hilarious, unobtrusive when needed, and a total joy to have around. It honestly felt like we had two dear friends documenting the most special day of our lives. I cannot recommend them enough—I would scream it from the rooftops if I could! If you’re thinking about booking them—DO IT. Your future self will thank you a million times over. I know ours does.

Passionate Photographer and Lovely to Work With!
Amanda handled my now husband and I's engagement photos and she was just amazing to work with. She was so knowledgeable and easy going! She answered all of our questions and had examples to show us of her work and really just took the stress out of the entire process, which really helps out anxious brides like me! The photoshoot itself was so much fun! I was worried it was going to be awkward but she knew just what to say to get us great photos that really let us and our relationship shine through. Of course, the photos themselves were just amazing. Amanda even gave us recommendations for the best dimensions to get the photos printed in! Overall, you can't go wrong here!
