A wedding day is captured in a journalistic or documentary approach with very little guidance. With elegance and class, I specialize in off-guard flattering photos capturing in-the-moment emotion.

I'm a wedding photographer who specializes in genuine, authentic photography. I happily serve clients in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Washington D.C. My approach is candid and natural, and I encourage couples to enjoy themselves when shooting with me. I am an experienced wedding photographer who serves you from your engagement session through your wedding day.

    Beautiful portraits, but missing moments

    We had a mix of positives and disappointments. Planning was smooth, she’s pleasant to be around on the day of, and our staged/posed portraits turned out beautifully with fast delivery. Unfortunately, the candid moments and guest coverage fell short. Cocktail hour was missed despite discussing it in advance, and overall candid coverage felt very limited even during emotional ceremony moments and lively speeches and a legendary party. Several guests are missing from the gallery entirely (not even in table or group photos), and the editing quality was minimal (e.g., visible trash/napkins/water bottles and inconsistent coloring). We also only received black-and-white versions of some images without the color originals. For a small wedding (under 50 guests) and the investment, this felt below industry standards. After sharing feedback, she sent a small additional batch of photos, which we appreciated, but it also raised questions about why those weren’t included initially. Communication then became difficult, with many concerns going unanswered and follow-ups ignored. We value the photos we do love, but because of the significant gaps and overall experience, we can’t recommend her for something important as weddings.

    Alex Hines Photo & Co. provided an amazing photography.Their communication was consistently clear and professional, putting us at ease throughout the planning process. The photographers have an incredible talent for capturing raw, genuine moments, showcasing the true emotion and energy of the day. Alex was the photographer for my sister's wedding a year ago, and my family was thrilled with her work. She then captured my proposal, we immediately booked Alex to capture our special day as well, and we are so excited to have her photograph our upcoming wedding.     Just hire her!

    Alex was incredible to work with, start to finish. She was prompt to respond when we initially reached out to her, and we quickly setup a zoom call. We fell in love with her pure passion for what she does, and we felt fully comfortable and confident in her ability and professionalism. Alex kept up with us throughout the year long engagement and sent us helpful information along the way. She was responsive to messages on honeybook and always calm and confident—which helped ease any bridal anxieties I had! Alex did phenomenal work the day of the wedding. She was prompt, professional, and had a great vibe for our special day. She helped us scope out some fun, artistic spots to take photos and she made the whole day very special.
